Hella Horny Hi C

So the other day I was cut off in traffic yet again, and when I hit the horn … well something had to be done. That stock horn just wasn’t going to cut it.

I picked up these Hella Super Tone Horns off of Amazon. The next step was to start prepping them for install.

The first problem is that they come from the factory in a red color. Nothing on the car is red, so that had to go.

I used the touch up paint that I brought home from the accident repair and my “cost effective” air brush to put some Tangerine Splash Pearl base coat on. I used a little bit of a pearl from another paint touch up kit so it isn’t perfect, and finished it off with a rattle can clear. The result turned out pretty good.

The wimpy even by Prius standards stock horn… BOOOO!

I mounted them to a couple of existing holes in the bumper reinforcement, and then started to run wires. I grounded the new horns to the factory horns bolt hole. The +12v side I tied together and into a spade terminal so it would plug in to the factory connector. This way everything is 100% reversible if the want or need arises.

After a little bit more positioning and clocking the bumper cover fits right back on. Visibly there is obviously a small sign that something isn’t stock there. Audibly there is a huge difference and I almost can’t wait until the next time I get cut off…. almost.
