This year we spent 86 day at Mann Engineering in Santa Clara. Mann Engineering caters mostly to the Subaru folks, but with the BRZ being half of the modern 86 twins it puts an 86 Day event right in their wheel house.
I’m never sure what the vibe is going to be at events that are geared towards the modern 86’s. While the advertising department at Toyota tried to make a strong tie in to the original AE86 that tie in didn’t seem to translate well to the majority of the owners.
While there are a few owners that seem to appreciate both the old and new for the most part these events seem to self segregate between the generations. That can make things a bit awkward if you
you are the only AE86 owner. Luckily there were a handful of us 80’s owners there this time.
