FX16 Spa Day!

We’ve cleaned the FX several times since Jamie picked it up.  I’ve even buffed it once, but only with a light compound.  Today however we came to play.  We started off with a wash using the Chemical Guys Maxi Suds II Soap.

Clean, but far from shiny.  The paint has never been great, but being on daily driver duty hasn’t done it any favors either.  After trying out some new products on the Hi C the other day we wanted to see if they could help out the FX.

Before we could get started on the new stuff however we needed to do a bit of polishing.  For this we used a combination my Makita Buffer and some Meguiars medium cut and fine cut compounds.  Mostly because we already had one and the other was available locally.  You can see a few panel by panel comparisons above of this stage.

Once we had the whole car done we moved on to the Chemical Guys Wet Mirror Finish and then finished it off with the JetSeal Anti-Corrosion Sealant and Paint Protectant.

The results turned out pretty good.

Not quite as good as a fresh paint job, but SOOO much better than it was.
