I’ve had the car for almost a week. So far I’ve replaced the tire that got cut up on the way home, and I’ve gotten some button head allen screws to replace then factory inner fender screws that seemed to be the biggest culprit of rubbing the tires. These seem to be less of a problem.
I’ve purposely kept my hands off of it to make sure I could get some proper before pictures.
Of course I could take “before pics” pretty much anywhere. Sunrise on a Sunday morning more than 50 miles from home at the Golden Gate Bridge; well that was just to show off the new ride a bit!
Sunrise is not only a great time of day for lighting, but pre-dawn was a great time of day to get through San Francisco’s rough roads with out tearing up anything else before I could make some minor adjustments.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t plan to make major changes, and I don’t plan to race or drift this car. Not that I don’t think the AE86 is a great chassis to do so with. I just think a clean unmolested example is getting rare and I intended to keep it this one in a similar state of resto-mod status.
I’m also not shopping for a trailer anytime soon. This car will continue to be driven to where it needs to go, so the first order of business will be more go than show.
